In some cases, when we have updated plugins it was required to update the plugin ID. This means that after updating, the new version will replace the previous version and your DAW will now see it as a different plugin. Unfortunately then it will not recall settings in previous sessions in your DAW.
This of course is not the case with every update, only where the plugin ID has had to be changed. When this happens we do include this information in a blog article linked in the update email, so we recommend checking the article before updating.
When a plugin ID has been changed, we advise that you document all settings for each instance of the relevant plugin in any sessions you might need to go back to prior to installing the updates.
